McManus leaves full-time Pearl role after just one week, moves to consulting

SAN ANTONIO – Former San Antonio Police Chief William McManus has stepped away from his full-time role with Silver Ventures after just one week, transitioning instead to a consulting position with Pearl.

McManus retired earlier this year after two decades leading the San Antonio Police Department and was hired as Silver Ventures’ vice president of safety and security. Silver Ventures owns Pearl.

In a statement, the company said McManus and its leadership team met at the end of his first week to reassess the position and its security needs.

“His greatest value to Pearl would be through a consulting role rather than a traditional full-time position,” the statement said. Silver Ventures said the change was a mutual decision.

McManus said he remains confident in Pearl’s security team and operations.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working with Pearl in a consulting capacity,” McManus said. “I have full confidence in the strength of the security operations in place and in the team’s ability to keep things running seamlessly.”

McManus’ move into consulting comes less than two months after he announced he would retire early from SAPD to take the Silver Ventures job.
