LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock-Cooper Liberty (2-0) is this week’s KCBD Endzone team of the week after they beat the Frenship Tigers (1-1) on the road 44-13.
The Patriots put together a record-breaking performance on Friday as they compiled a team record of 11 sacks to go along with three turnovers.
Junior Ryland Thomas was at the center of that defensive performance as he had seven total sacks as he caused havoc for Frenship QB James Ordonez throughout the game.
On offense, Liberty’s run game once again led the way as they tallied 233 total rushing yards. Senior running back Talon Wilcox gathered up 167 yards and three touchdowns as he has gotten out to a quick start to the 2026 season.
Quarterback Cy Leach was also efficient against the Tigers defense, as he completed 12-of-19 passes for 129 yards and one touchdown.
The Patriots will now get ready for a big game against Midland Greenwood (2-0) for their home opener. That game is set for 7 p.m. next Friday at Patriot Stadium at First United Liberty Park.
