DALLAS — A Dallas man was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison for sexual exploitation of a minor, federal officials said in a press release.
The man sentenced, Eduardo Brito Leaton, was a registered sex offender at the time of the crime. Leaton later plead guilty to the crime on May 14.
Court documents showed Leaton used a cellphone to get a child to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing media that was sent across the internet, a means of interstate and foreign commerce, according to the press release.

Leaton was staying at the Dallas Transitional Housing Center when law enforcement tracked him down. Officers found digital evidence of the crime after executing a search warrant.
The man had multiple prior convictions for similar crimes in Dallas and Los Angeles, including possession or promotion of child pornography dating back to 2021.
The investigation was led by Homeland Security Investigations Dallas, the Waterloo, Canada Regional Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, the Dallas Police Department and Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
