Crusaders drop game to Fort Worth squad

The Crusaders’ Carlin Ifeadi made the play of the game: a 93-yard punt return for a touchdown late in the game.
However, the spark came too late in the contest as Bishop Gorman dropped a 22-6 decision to the Fort Worth Covenant Classical Cavaliers on Friday at McCallum Stadium in Tyler.
The Cavaliers improve to 2-0. They played their second straight 11-man football game. The school will now return to playing six-man football. Covenant is ranked No. 1 among Private School six-man teams.
The Crusaders fall to 0-2.
Linebacker Roberto Lozano led the BG defense with 11 tackles, three sacks and four tackles for loss.
Running back Pearl Jackson gained 73 yards on 13 carries for the Cru. Also, Ifeadi added four catches for 45 yards.
TKG quarterback Eli Saurette completed 10 of 26 passes for 102 yards and threw one interception.
The Cavaliers return to their six-man schedule, traveling to Waco to face Valor Prep at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Crusaders hit the road for the first time this season, also traveling to Waco to play CTSA Outlaws at 6 p.m. Saturday.
After the Waco trip, Bishop Gorman plays its first two TAPPS Division IV games in Tyler: Sept. 18 vs. Waco Live Oak at McCallum Stadium and Sept. 26 at All Saints.
