DALLAS, TX – Over Labor Day weekend, Democratic Nominee for Texas Governor Gina Hinojosa connected with voters across Dallas, visiting local small businesses, meeting with Black community leaders, and addressing union members from the United Steelworkers, the American Postal Workers Union, and Plumbers and Pipefitters at their Dallas Labor Day Cookout and the North Texas Area Labor Federation at their inaugural joint Labor Day celebration.

On Sunday, Hinojosa visited Johnny’s Chicken and Waffles to highlight one of Dallas’ most prominent Black-owned restaurants and discuss the importance of building an economy that supports and creates opportunity for small businesses in Texas.
Hinojosa then visited The Wild Detectives, an independent Bookstore and Bar in Oak Cliff and Kessler Baking Studio, a Black-owned micro-bakery founded in 2020.
Hinojosa ended Sunday by holding a roundtable with local Black leaders – including business executives, attorneys, small business owners, and community advocates – to hear their concerns, including rising healthcare costs, public schools, and economic opportunities.
On Labor Day, Hinojosa attended a Dallas Labor Day Cookout hosted by the United Steelworkers, the American Postal Workers Union, and Plumbers and Pipefitters. In her speech, Hinojosa highlighted that Labor Day belongs to the workers who built Texas and reinforced her commitment that organized labor will have a real seat at the table in her administration.
Hinojosa ended her weekend at the inaugural joint Labor Day celebration hosted by the North Texas Area Labor Federation. She addressed attendees and talked about the monumental victory of Taylor Rehmet, highlighting that organized labor did far more than simply issue an endorsement. Working families mobilized to elect an advocate directly from their ranks to the Texas Senate.
