Elizabeth Holmes is back in the spotlight following the surprise release of a trailer for a previously secret documentary, leaving many wondering where the Theranos founder is now.
The film, titled “You Can See Everything,” features Holmes, who was convicted of defrauding investors in connection with the collapse of Theranos. The project was filmed in secret just weeks before Holmes reported to prison in 2023 to begin serving her sentence on fraud charges.
Holmes was sentenced to 135 months — or 11 years and three months — in federal prison, according to the United States Department of Justice.
What did Elizabeth Holmes do?
Holmes was convicted of defrauding Theranos investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars by making false claims about the blood-testing company’s technology, finances and business relationships.
Prosecutors said Holmes knew Theranos’ devices could not perform as advertised, yet she continued telling investors the technology was faster, cheaper and more accurate than traditional testing. She also exaggerated partnerships with major pharmaceutical companies, Walgreens and the U.S. military and gave investors inflated revenue projections.

The fraud helped Holmes raise hundreds of millions of dollars and pushed the value of her Theranos stake above $4 billion. Prosecutors said she also enjoyed a lavish lifestyle, living in a $15 million mansion and traveling on a private jet paid for by Theranos.
When does Elizabeth Holmes get out of prison?
Holmes was ordered to surrender on April 27, 2023. She is currently at Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas, a minimum-security federal prison camp and is scheduled to be released Feb. 22, 2030.
The prison is considered one of the top minimum-security prisons to serve time in, according to a prison consultancy group, for safety, comfort and amenities.
Minimum-security facilities typically house nonviolent, first-time offenders or those who have worked their way down from a higher-security prison due to good behavior, USA TODAY previously reported, citing a prison consultant.
Federal officials moved Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell to a Bryan, TX prison as her legal team work to get her released.
Holmes was also sentenced to three years of supervision following release from prison.
Other notable inmates at FPC Bryan are Ghislaine Maxwell and celebrity housewife Jen Shah.
