SAN ANTONIO — The motorcyclist killed after being thrown from an Interstate 35 overpass near downtown has been identified.
Police identified the rider as 39-year-old Jeremy Akers.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Monday on southbound I-35 at the Interstate 10 West interchange, an area commonly known as the Finesilver Curve.
Police said Akers was traveling at a high rate of speed when he failed to make the curve leading to I-10 West and hit a retaining wall.
The impact threw Akers from the motorcycle and over the wall. He landed on the ground below and died at the scene.
