Investigation into Fatal Crash at 13500 Gulf Freeway
September 8, 2026 – Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 13500 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 2:35 a.m. on September 6.
The deceased male is identified as Cristian Chicas Gongora, 26.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Garcia and Officer J. Rincon reported:
The victim was passenger in a vehicle traveling northbound at the above address when a physical altercation occurred between the male and another passenger. The male then proceeded to exit the vehicle while it was still in motion.
According to a witness, after the male fell onto the main lanes a white Chevrolet Camaro struck him. The driver of the Camaro did not stop to provide assistance.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased a the scene.
