Texas Tech is going old school with this year’s homecoming theme, and millennials of all ages are sure to enjoy what they have in store as the Red Raiders take the field in October.
In an unforgettable FREE concert on Friday, October 16, the Goo Goo Dolls and Bowling for Soup will both perform during Texas Tech’s homecoming week festivities!
October 16 also will feature a parade down Avenue V and Broadway through the campus’ main entrance and a pep rally followed by a massive bonfire in Urbanovsky Park.
The entire week is ended with a homecoming football game between Texas Tech and Arizona State right here at Galaxy Stadium.

More On the Goo Goo Dolls
One of the bands performing in Lubbock on October 16, the Goo Goo Dolls, was actually formed back in the mid-1980s despite rising to fame in the 90s with hits like “Name,” and “Iris.”
With millions of records sold worldwide with seven singles hitting the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, the Goo Goo Dolls are certain to keep Texas Tech fans pumped this homecoming season.
Bowling for Soup in Lubbock
The other throwback band performing on October 16 in Lubbock during Texas Tech’s Homecoming Week is Bowling for Soup. The group was actually formed in Texas just down the road in Wichita Falls and rose to prominence in the early 2000s.
Most people will recognize one of their most popular songs, “1985,” from their 2004 album titled “A Hangover You Don’t Deserve.”
Other younger fans may know them best for singing the theme song to the Disney Channel series “Phineas and Ferb.” There’s a high chance that anyone under the age of 30 can recite the entire song, word for word.
So, don’t miss out! The Homecoming parade begins at 6 p.m. on October 16 followed by the pep rally in Urbanovsky Park. The bonfire and live concert from these two bands will follow later in the evening. Gates for the free concert open at 6 p.m. and food trucks will be available on location!
