LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The West Texas State Veterans Cemetery is hosting burials Thursday for two unaccompanied veterans who are not expected to have next-of-kin present.
U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Clinton Eugene Canfield will be laid to rest at 9 a.m. Canfield received the National Defense Service Medal.
U.S. Army Private Dalton Sellinger, 78, will be laid to rest at 10 a.m. Sellinger served in the Army from January 1966 to September 1966 and also received the National Defense Service Medal.
Because Canfield and Sellinger are not expected to have any next-of-kin at his burial, a Veterans Land Board representative will accept the United States flag on their behalf.
The ceremonies will take place at the cemetery along East 50th Street just outside the Loop. The public is invited to attend.
