SAN ANTONIO – A major economic development effort on the South Side is moving forward after the San Antonio River Authority board approved the conveyance of 243 acres to the Brooks Development Authority.
The land is part of Project Oso, a joint effort aimed at bringing large-scale economic development and jobs to the area. The site is located just south of Loop 410 and less than two miles from the original Brooks campus.
Brooks officials said they will now work with partners to prepare the site for development.
The land transfer comes as Brooks continues to see major investment in the area.
Industrial Electric Manufacturing, or IEM, has announced plans for a 1 million-square-foot facility at Brooks. That project is expected to bring $200 million in investment and create 3,000 jobs.
Brooks will now begin the next steps to get the Project Oso site ready for future development.
