LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – History made for the Frenship Memorial Panthers, who gained their first varsity win Friday night as they knocked off the Coronado Mustangs 30-13 at PlainsCapital Park.
With a 7-6 lead, Panther RB Junah Roberts pulled across the goal line to make the score 14-6. On the ensuing drive, Memorial DB Josiah Moreno put the Panthers in scoring position with a game-changing interception.
Memorial scored again with QB Luke Bocanegra pushed the ball across the goal line, and held on once it came loose.
The Panthers are off next week, but will return to play Friday, Sept. 25 as they host Amarillo High. The Mustangs will head north next week and visit the Plainview Bulldogs.
