North Texas is in for another hot, dry weekend after storms brought rain to parts of Dallas-Fort Worth this week.
The return to dry weather comes after scattered storms moved through North Texas Thursday and Friday, bringing brief spurts of rain and gusty winds.
Saturday’s high is forecast to reach 101 degrees, with a low of 80 degrees, according to the weather service. The heat index, or “feels like temperature,” is expected to reach 105 degrees, but the weather service said it does not expect to issue a heat advisory.
North Texans spending time outside this weekend may feel breezy winds, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph. Because of the elevated heat index, the weather service recommends staying hydrated and taking breaks in the shade.
The hot, dry pattern is expected to continue through most of the next week, but the weather service said cooler weather could be on the horizon for Dallas-Fort Worth.
“Although this is still beyond the official 7-day forecast, the passing of a cold front may lead temperatures much closer to seasonal normals as well as the return of low rain chances to the area,” the weather service said in its Friday forecast.
