Editor’s note: Spoilers for “Lioness” below.
Kleberg, Texas
Around 7 minutes in, Kyle (Thad Luckinbill) and his team are in Kleberg, Texas, after thwarting an escape plan.
Kleberg is not a real Texas town, at least not anymore.
In 1845, a 4,428-acre tract was granted to Robert Kleberg, a famed solider and settler, according to the Texas State Historical Association. Now in Dallas, the tract was on U.S. Highway 175 around 13 miles southeast of Dallas. A small community lived on the acreage for decades, and the town officially received the “Kleberg” name in 1887.
At its peak, Kleberg had a population of about 4,500 people. In 1978, the community was consolidated into Dallas. At the time, Kleberg was the largest town in Texas without a property tax.
There is also a Kleberg County in Texas just south of Corpus Christi.
Rolling Hills Soccer Complex
Around 12 minutes, police pull over a car containing Joe (Zoe Saldaña) and a firefight ensues.
The traffic stop was filmed on Joe B Rushing Road in-between the Rolling Hills Soccer Complex and the parking lot of Tarrant County College’s south campus.
The ensuing firefight was filmed on the fields at the Rolling Hills Soccer Complex.
“Lioness” airs Sundays on Paramount+.
