LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Today in Lubbock 98 degrees with a gusty south wind of 31 mph. At least we didn’t make it to our record of 101 degrees that was set on this day in 1930.

We’ll start out the week hot, but a few degrees low for Monday and then some lower afternoon highs on the way later in the week. We may see 80s return to the South Plains by the weekend.
In addition to a temperature break rain chances will increase late week, and we could see some showers and storms on Friday and Saturday.

Even with the heat, there will be a chance of showers and a few storms in the western South Plains the next couple of afternoons.
