There are currently 26 locations of Trader Joe’s in Texas. That number will soon grow by two, as the popular grocer recently submitted plans to put new stores in the Lone Star State.

Trader Joe’s is beginning the process to open stores at 9052 North City Drive in Fort Worth and 5900 Preston Road in Plano. A representative for Trader Joe’s confirmed the plans to Chron.

“We are actively looking at hundreds of neighborhoods across the country as we hope to open more new neighborhood stores each year,” wrote Trader Joe’s Public Relations Manager Nakia Rohde. “At this time, I can share that we have plans for new stores in Fort Worth and Plano.”

Rohde continued that timelines aren’t yet in place.

An agent on behalf of Trader Joe’s filed permits Friday with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration (TDLR) explaining the scope of work. The Fort Worth store will be about 12,500 square feet after a $900,000 estimated construction. Tentative completion date is June 1, 2027. The Plano store is expected to be around 12,500 square feet, as well, after its own $900,000 estimated construction. That store is also slated to tentatively be complete June 1, 2027.

Information in TDLR filings is subject to change.

California-based Trader Joe’s has been steadily increasing its presence in Texas in recent months. Just last month, TDLR filings revealed the grocer’s plans to build a 12,500-square-foot store in the Dallas suburb of Wylie. BMF + Associates out of California, which is reportedly leading the buildouts in Fort Worth and Plano, is also listed as the architecture firm on the Wylie project.

That comes on the heels of new store plans for both Spring and Bellaire, within the Houston region.
