Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run after a woman was struck and killed late Monday night on Little York Road.

At approximately 10:54 p.m., officers with the Houston Police Department and Houston Fire Department responded to the 7901 Little York Road area after receiving a call about a pedestrian who had been struck. Responding units found a white woman believed to be in her mid-20s lying in the roadway with visible trauma.

Houston Fire Department personnel transported the victim to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation suggests the woman may have been sitting or walking in the roadway when she was struck by a grey or black sedan. The driver fled the scene following the collision. Investigators noted little debris was left at the scene from the impact.

The area is residential with a gas station nearby. Witnesses remained on scene and provided information to responding officers.

The case is being handled by the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Houston police.
