SAN ANTONIO – Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio will permanently close its Rayburn Club later this month and pause programming at its Eastside Club for the rest of the school year because of financial challenges.

The Rayburn Club will close September 25.

Programming at the Eastside Club, located on Martin Luther King Drive, will pause September 30.

The nonprofit said fundraising efforts and community support were not enough to overcome ongoing financial difficulties.

Officials said they are working to connect affected families with other organizations and local youth programs that may offer after-school care and support.

While the Rayburn Club will not reopen, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio said it is exploring ways to restore programming at the Eastside Club in the future.
