BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Marshall Faulk’s Tuesday press luncheon was a lot more filtered than last Saturday’s postgame press conference.
Immediately following Southern’s 77-6 defeat to No. 22 Houston, the Jaguars head coach was brutally honest about his team’s performance and the challenges they face playing in “money games”. On Tuesday, Faulk shared his message to the team on moving forward.
“What I told them is you can’t let one game define you,” the Pro Football Hall of Famer said. “The work that we have been putting in since January to right the wrongs, what happened in that game and how it happened, I explained to them what happens under the bright lights against an opponent that is that good. They did what they are supposed to do. Sometimes it flips.”
Faulk also mentioned the coaches did not do the usual postgame film breakdown with the team. However, the staff did put together some moments to show who and who did not give their all.
“We put up a tape and showed some plays. Those plays surrounded the word effort. You can get your butt kicked and things can go wrong but what should be on display is your effort. We are going to fix that.”
Southern returns home this weekend to face Louisiana Christian. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. Saturday on SWACTV.
