SAN ANTONIO — A well-loved and missed San Antonio music tradition is returning this fall with a new name, a larger venue and more than 10 local acts.
RE:Imagine Fest is set for November, 28 at Stable Hall in the Pearl District. Organizers say the two-stage festival will honor the legacy of Imagine Books & Records, the former DIY music venue and community space once known as the “Loudest Bookstore in Texas.”
The original Imagine Fest ran from 2015 through 2019 and featured local musicians alongside regional and touring performers. Imagine Books & Records closed during the pandemic in 2021.
Festival founder Ezra Hurd is reuniting with organizers Noah Slavin and Ezra Rodriguez for the revival.
“RE:Imagine Fest is coming to Stable Hall to reminisce on our music scene’s love and appreciation for our time with Imagine Books & Records,” Hurd said in a news release. “This is about supporting the local music scene and giving our talented artists a platform to share their work with new audiences across San Antonio and beyond.”
Austin rock band The Black Angels will headline the festival. The lineup also includes Any Color You Like, Shut Up Cicada, Roshii, Hydra Melody, Lonely Horse, Piñata Protest, Killer Cats (from outerspace), Xenocten, Postal, Buffalo Farm and Euphonia.
Organizers say the event will also feature local vendors, limited-edition merchandise and a custom art installation from TV Eye Media.
Doors open at 3 p.m., with music beginning at 4 p.m. The all-ages event’s tickets range from $30 to $75 and are available through Stable Hall’s box office.
