HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — ABC13 reporter Jeff Ehling is dropping the mic and retiring from ABC13 this week.
Jeff has been a reporter at ABC13 since 2000.
He grew up in south Georgia and graduated from Valdosta State University with a degree in television.
Jeff’s career started with reporting jobs at TV stations in Valdosta and Macon, Georgia, along with West Palm Beach, Florida.
Jeff’s wife landed a job in Houston in 1999, and one month later, in early 2000, Jeff was hired as a reporter at ABC13.
Over his more than 26 years at Channel 13, Jeff has covered every type of story possible.
He’s traveled all around southeast Texas covering breaking news for Houston’s television viewers.
In 2002, Jeff reported on the Texans’ first game as an expansion team.
He also traveled to Kuwait during the early days of Operation Iraqi Freedom, reporting on Iraqi missiles hitting civilian targets in Kuwait City.
Jeff eventually became ABC13’s Action 13 consumer reporter, helping Eyewitness News viewers and offering tips for saving money in an increasingly expensive economy.
Jeff also covered many of the major weather events that impacted southeast Texas since 2000, including Tropical Storm Allison in 2001 and Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
In retirement, Jeff plans to travel and spend time with his wife and two grown sons.
Jeff will be missed at ABC13 and we wish him a happy retirement!
