A new development with 97 townhomes that will be available for rent is taking shape along Hurst’s Highway 10 corridor.
The Republic Property Group plans to start construction in December on the Hurst 500 Townhomes development, named for the location at 500 W. Hurst Blvd.
The rental townhomes will be at the northwest corner of Arthur Drive and Highway 10.
The homes will be on about 10.88 acres, and they should be completed by December 2027.
Seth Carpenter, senior vice president of development for the Republic Property Group who spoke during the Aug. 25 council meeting, said the townhomes will range in size from 1,100 to 1,500 square feet, with two-car garages. The townhomes will have two, three or four bedrooms and will also include stainless steel appliances and stone countertops.
Carpenter said that around three acres of the property are in the floodplain, where there are plans for a private dog park and walking trails for residents only, along with park benches.
Trees will have to be removed, but Carpenter said new trees will be planted.
There are also plans to build a wrought iron fence with masonry along Highway 10, and a wrought iron fence in the floodplain area.
Carpenter said a property management company will oversee the townhomes, and tenants will undergo income and criminal history checks.
Carpenter said the homes will likely be a catalyst for more growth along Highway 10, and said property values could also increase in the area.
