A highly anticipated Fort Worth development may break ground soon.
In early September, an engineering firm filed early construction paperwork for the One University development in the Cultural District.
The development is one of two mixed-use developments being built by Nebraska-based Goldenrod Companies near Artisan Circle.
The One University development sits on roughly 2.8 acres at University Drive and Morton Street.
Construction on the Van Zandt, Goldenrod’s other development in the area, reached its highest point on the building earlier this summer, according to a social media post from Goldenrod.
When it’s completed, the One University development is expected to include a 10-story tower with a hotel and apartments, according to past Star-Telegram reporting, in addition to a nine-story tower with a four-story parking garage and four stories of office space.
To get economic incentives from the city of Fort Worth, the Van Zandt development must be finished by June 30, 2027, city spokesperson Andrea Duffie said. The city amended its agreement with Goldenrod to give the company an extension on the project.
The deadline for Goldenrod to complete the One University development in order to receive incentives, Duffie said, is one year later — June 30, 2028.
Representatives for the city of Fort Worth referred the Star-Telegram to Goldenrod for specifics about when the project might break ground.
A representative for Goldenrod contacted the Star-Telegram, but did not immediately provide details on the development.
