A First Cash Pawn is planned for the vacant lot, according to a newly filed Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation record, marking a major change for a property that spent years as a fixture of the city’s music and nightlife scene.

The $2.2 million project calls for a new 6,464-square-foot freestanding building at the site. Construction is scheduled to begin December 1, 2026, with completion expected February 21, 2028, according to the filing.

The property was previously home to Billy’s Ice, which closed after 16 years in New Braunfels. The venue announced its closure in August 2025 after the property went under contract, bringing an end to a longtime live music destination known for its concerts, cold beer and community fundraisers.

While Billy’s has continued in a different fashion, the former Loop 337 property itself went through a different transition.

The building was later demolished, leaving the Loop 337 property vacant for more than a year. Now, the site is set for a very different chapter. The planned pawn shop represents a major change for a property that spent 16 years as home to Billy’s Ice.

First Cash operates pawn stores that buy and sell merchandise and offer pawn loans, with locations across the United States and internationally.
