Willson Contreras leaves the Red Sox’s game at Texas after being hit by a pitch |

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Boston first baseman Willson Contreras left the Red Sox’s game Thursday night against the Texas Rangers in the eighth inning after being hit by a pitch in the area of the right hand.

Contreras was struck by a first-pitch sinker thrown by Jakob Junis after Wilyer Abreu drew a leadoff walk with the Rangers leading 3-1. Contreras walked to first base in obvious pain, was examined by a team trainer, and headed to the dugout.
