A gang member accused of stealing a car in Dallas has been sentenced to 90 months in federal prison, according to a U.S. Department of Justice press release.
Travion Williams, 23, pleaded guilty to carjacking and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime, and was sentenced on Sept. 16.
The car theft took place in December 2023, authorities said. That month, officials say Williams, an identified member of the Four Deuce Oakland Crips, approached two people who were returning to their 2020 Corvette.
The car was parked near Elm Street, where Williams and two co-conspirators made their approach.
All three were masked, and Williams brandished a Glock 19 pistol, officials said. During the carjacking, the three forcibly took the victim’s keys, wallet, phone and other belongings before fleeing in the Corvette, according to officials.
Dallas police tried to stop the car, but Williams evaded officers at a high rate of speed and abandoned the vehicle under a bridge. Williams tried to run away but was ultimately taken into custody by Dallas Police Department officers.
Williams’ sentencing is part of a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives initiative launched in 2024 to identify and disrupt gang members operating along the Malcolm X Boulevard corridor in South Dallas.
