Bond denied for man charged in separate fatal shootings of two Harris County teenagers

  • September 18, 2026

HOUSTON – A man charged in the fatal shootings of two separate Harris County teenagers will be held without bond pending trial, Judge Hazel Jones ruled on Thursday.

Enrique Aguilar, 20, is charged with two counts of murder after fatal shootings in August 2025 and February 2026. The victims in both cases are teenagers.

August 2025 shooting

Aguilar is accused of fatally shooting 17-year-old Angel Garcia at a large house party on Waldine Street in east Harris County, according to records.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and the house party had some 200 people in attendance, many of whom fled the scene before investigators could interview them.

Aguilar was not charged in this case until June 2026, records show, around the same time charges were filed against his co-defendant, Jefferson Velasquez.

Velasquez, 18, is also accused in the fatal shooting of Garcia. He’s currently in jail with bond denied and an ICE hold, records show, and facing an additional murder charge connected to a different shooting outside Diosa nightclub in Midtown in April.

February 2026 shooting

On Valentine’s Day, Aguilar is accused of fatally shooting 17-year-old Mariah Alatorre on Milroy Lane in northwest Harris County.

During Thursday’s bond hearing, a detective testified that the shooting was captured on surveillance video and Aguilar allegedly told Alatorre to “shut the f*** up” before shooting her. She screamed after being shot, but the detective testified Aguilar showed no sense of urgency to help.

Alatorre later died at the hospital.

Aguilar was arrested and charged in that case in April, records show, while the August shooting was still under investigation and before any charges had been filed.

Prior to these two shootings, Aguilar did not have any adult criminal history in Harris County, according to records. His juvenile record is unclear. He’s not due back in court until November.
