LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – (News release from Catholic Charities of Lubbock)
Catholic Charities of Lubbock will host the People of Hope: Faith-Filled Stories of Neighbors Helping Neighbors traveling museum, a nationwide storytelling initiative produced by Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA).
The museum will visit Lubbock on September 21–22, 2026, and will be free and open to the public at the Diocese of Lubbock, 4620 4th Street.
The museum will be open from 11AM to 7PM on Monday, September 21st, and from Noon to 6PM on Tuesday, September 22nd. A City of Lubbock Mayoral Proclamation is scheduled for Monday at noon, a Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting on Monday at 4PM, followed by a blessing by Most Rev. Robert M. Coerver, Bishop of The Catholic Diocese of Lubbock.
The People of Hope Museum is a first of its kind, immersive mobile experience housed inside a digitally outfitted semitruck. Over a three-year national tour, it will visit more than 150 communities across the United States to inspire service, strengthen community connection, and highlight the transformative impact of Christian compassion.
Funded through a grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc. the museum showcases original video stories told by Catholic Charities staff and volunteers nationwide. Each narrative offers a powerful glimpse into what it means to bring hope to someone facing their darkest moment.
The People of Hope Museum includes an interactive poverty simulation, a curated learning library with audio excerpts from leading thinkers, national and local data illustrating the scope of need and the importance of community-based support, and a recording studio where attendees can share their own stories of hope, service, and connection.
Cynthia Quintanilla, Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Lubbock, says, “Every day, we witness how compassion transforms lives—one family, one neighbor, one small act of kindness at a time. Hosting this museum allows our community to celebrate those stories and be inspired to create new ones. We hope every visitor leaves with a renewed sense of connection, purpose, and hope.”
