HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating after a body was discovered under a bridge in northwest Houston late Thursday night.
Deputies were called to the area of 18200 Homestead Road around 9 p.m. Thursday after a passerby stumbled upon the body. Houston Fire Department crews arrived on scene and pronounced the man dead.
The deceased is described as a male in an advanced state of decomposition. His age has not been determined.
The man who found the body was walking through the area when he came across the remains. Rather than calling 911 himself, he alerted a nearby store worker, who then contacted authorities. Investigators are hoping that man comes forward with additional information.
No apparent injuries were observed on the victim. It remains unclear whether the man was homeless, though he was initially reported as such. Investigators noted he had not been seen in the area before, though a few people experiencing homelessness are known to frequent the location.
The Harris County medical examiner responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
