San Antonio audiences may have noticed the mysterious absence of a familiar KSAT personality on recent broadcasts. Thanks to a new social media post, we now know why they haven’t appeared and when the newscaster will likely return to the airwaves.

Good Morning San Antonio reporter Hannah Gonzales shared that she broke her foot while on vacation in California earlier this month. She shared the news with viewers in an Instagram video posted on Wednesday, September 16.

The TV journalist has been off the air for a little over a week, she says, aside from a pre-recorded news package that aired on Monday. She does not plan to return to the newsroom until Tuesday, September 22, as long as she is feeling better.

“So, yeah, I have a broken foot,” she shared in the video. “I’m trying to heal, and I really want to take that seriously because I have a wedding in six months.”

Gonzales, who is from San Antonio, celebrated her four-month work anniversary in the Alamo City — with a boot on, of course. Her doctor reportedly said it will take three months to heal from the injury, but fortunately, she will not need surgery.

She was visiting her fiancé, who still works and lives in the Golden State, when she broke her foot. The San Antonio native relocated from her former news station in Fresno, California, in May.

The two plan to get married in six months, leaving her just enough time for her foot to get back on track. She shared that she may be able to start walking on it after four weeks.

“I just, like I said, want to try to be super cautious and not rush, because I do want to be in heels for my wedding,” said the reporter.

According to Gonzales, the hardest part of her recovery so far has been being unable to return to work and having to slow down during such a busy time in her life.

“Everyone keeps telling me, well, maybe this is your sign that you physically needed to slow down,” she said.

While healing, she plans to work on puzzles, read, and potentially slow down just a tad, she said, though many who know her personally know that may be difficult for the Pilates-loving go-getter.

Gonzales’ doctor also told her that, unlike many others who experience injuries similar to her broken foot, she did not sprain her ankle.

“And honestly, I think that Pilates has to do with that. We just do so much stabilization and strengthening,” she said in the video. In the meantime, her family is helping look after her dog, who recently had surgery on his left leg — the same side where Gonzales broke her foot — and viewers can check out her return sometime next week. She’ll wear pink crutches and ride a pink scooter while her foot heals.
