TGIF!
Whether it’s finding an item that was made just for you, listening to your favorite local saxophonist’s tune rolling through the street, smelling the mixed savory scents from food trucks or drinking an ice cold ladle of agua fresca, all those experiences make my perfect sunny day at a market. If any of that sounds enticing, then this is your weekend.
On Friday night, strap on your boots and make your way to Downtown Arlington for Tejano Night Mercado — a small business market and concert — to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month. The night will be a celebration of culture through music, food and shopping with over 50 vendors ranging from custom cowboy hat makers to Mexican food cooks. If you stop by, you will see me with tacos in hand.
If your mouth isn’t watering yet, the Cowboys Carne Asada experience is coming to Miller LiteHouse outside of AT&T Stadium on Saturday. Starting at 2 p.m. local food trucks and musical performances will be available for families, friends and Cowboys fans alike.
If you’re feeling a little more artsy, Downtown Arlington will be flooded with color, music and a range of flavors at the West Main Arts Festival. Local bands, talented visual artists, food trucks and interactive art zones will be there for you to show off your inner Picasso.
After the festival, the Levitt Pavilion lawn will have some local sound with the electric Blue Tongue and — full disclosure — my cousin’s band, the Patrick Pombuena Community Orchestra. Not to play favorites, but you’ll love the saxophonist!
Whatever you decide to do, let us know what you’re up to. Have a great weekend, and see you next week!
