What is important about this matchup is that, unlike almost any other pair of teams, they are historically dead-even in all-time games they have played against each other. Out of 36 meetings across seven decades, Houston has won 18 times, Texas Tech has won 17 times, and they have fought to a draw only once.
It is one of the most unique dynamics at play in college football this year.
On the flip side of this, Texas Tech is generally considered to be favored when one takes into account the home field advantage and the way Texas has dominated the modern era of this Lone Star State rivalry.
