Under new ownership, Austin Texas cigar lounge Cigar Vault East has rebranded as Overton’s, honoring Austin hometown World War II hero and cigar enthusiast Richard Arvin Overton.

Overton was born on May 11, 1906. When he passed away December 27, 2018 he was 112 years old, making him the oldest verified U.S. World War II vermin (and oldest man) in the United States. He was also a known cigar enthusiast, and has been featured on Fox News. As a cigar enthusiast, it has been reported that Overton would sometimes smoke a dozen cigars per day. This continued well past his 112th birthday.

The revamped lounge includes upgraded humidor selections, refreshed interiors, and a revitalized backyard designed for community‑driven cigar experiences. The outside of the shop features a large mural of Overton.

“Richard Overton embodied everything we value in this industry — tradition, connection, and the joy of a good cigar,” said JT Thomas, new owner of Overton’s in a press release. “Renaming the lounge in his honor allows us to celebrate his legacy and tie it directly into the roots of Austin, TX.”

A grand opening is scheduled for September 25th, 2026.
