Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias has eaten his way through Texas’ barbecue scene, but one restaurant keeps bringing him back. During a recent comedy set in San Antonio, the comedian was talking about Texas barbecue when he revealed the Seguin spot he considers the best in the state.
“The best barbecue in Texas is definitely Burnt Bean,” Iglesias told the audience.
Iglesias said he has been to Burnt Bean Co. more than 10 times and has tried barbecue at restaurants across the state.
The comedian also mentioned the Original Black’s BBQ, telling the crowd that the barbecue in Texas is “legit.”
But don’t expect Iglesias to start smoking his own brisket anytime soon.
“Do I barbecue at home? No, there’s no reason for me to do that,” he said. “I can go to Black’s. I can go to Burnt Bean. I can go to any of the barbecue spots around here.”
Iglesias said he refuses to barbecue himself because he knows how it could end.
“And I refuse to barbecue s— myself because I’m gonna mess it up,” he told the crowd.
Instead, he’s happy to leave it to the professionals.
“They’re so good and I’ve been to every other barbecue in the state,” Iglesias said. “Let me tell you, they’re really good. I will not try to mess up food.”
His favorite also has some serious credentials. Burnt Bean was named No. 1 on Texas Monthly’s 2025 list of the Top 50 Barbecue Joints in Texas. The Seguin restaurant has also earned recognition from the Michelin Guide and James Beard Foundation.
For Iglesias, though, the proof is in the return visits. He’s already been back more than 10 times.
