A man is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy in the parking lot of a Northwest Side park, according to an arrest affidavit.

Edgar Alonzo Lara, 28, was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. He posted a $100,000 bond and appeared to be in the process of being released from the Bexar County Jail on Thursday, according to court records.

As conditions of his release, a judge ordered Lara to wear a GPS monitor, abstain from alcohol, possess no firearms and have no contact with the boy.

According to the affidavit, the alleged assault occurred Sept. 1 after the boy met Lara after school and got into his blue Tesla. Lara then drove to the park, where investigators say the assault occurred inside the vehicle.

The boy got out of the Tesla after about an hour when a family member arrived at the park. As the family member approached the vehicle, Lara drove away, according to the affidavit.

The family member then called police and reported finding the boy inside an adult’s vehicle.

Investigators later reviewed security camera footage from a nearby Northside Independent School District campus that captured the Tesla arriving at the parking lot and the family member’s arrival more than an hour later.

A forensic interviewer later spoke with the boy, who said the alleged assault was an isolated incident and that he knew Lara only through messages exchanged on social media, according to the affidavit.

Both the boy and the family member identified Lara in a photo lineup.
