A 25-year-old Fort Worth man was arrested after police investigated a homicide at a home in Grand Prairie Sunday night, police said.

Officers were called about 10 p.m. to the 1300 block of Daja Lane, where they found a man inside a home with a gunshot wound.

Grand Prairie medics pronounced the man dead at the scene of the shooting.

The suspect, Courtlon Allen, fled the scene before police arrived and was found close by and arrested, police said in a news release.

“Based on evidence recovered at the scene and witness statements, detectives believe the suspect and victim, who knew one another, were involved in an altercation which escalated, resulting in the victim being shot,” the department said in the release.

The Dallas Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man who died after his next of kin has been notified.
