Four other children were inside the vehicle when someone opened fire; HCSO investigators are searching for answers

CYPRESS, Texas – A 5-year-old girl died after a vehicle carrying five children was struck by gunfire Saturday night in Cypress, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting happened around 11:45 p.m. in the 11800 block of Grant Road as a mother drove westbound from Jones Road. The girl was hit by gunfire and flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Two other children suffered injuries from shattered glass. The mother, who was driving, was not hurt.
HCSO Sgt. Adriel Hinojosa said this appears to be a road rage incident, but the information is preliminary and investigators are working to gather more details.
The sheriff’s office said no description of the suspected vehicle was immediately available.
