RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — The City of Richland Hills has named Wes Rhodes as the new chief of the Richland Hills Fire Department.
Rhodes was officially sworn in on Monday, November 10, in the Richland Hills City Council Chambers, the department said in a news release.
Rhodes brings nearly 40 years of fire service experience to the department, including more than two decades as a fire chief. His career began in 1986 with the Haltom City Fire Department, where he advanced through multiple roles before being promoted to fire chief in 2002, a position he held until his retirement in 2011.
He later served as fire chief for the City of Euless and went on to become the city’s assistant city manager, retiring from that role in 2024. Rhodes has also worked as a training coordinator at the Tarrant County College Fire Service Training Center, providing continuing education for departments across Tarrant County. Rhodes is a graduate of the Texas Fire Chiefs Academy, the Fire Service Chief Executive Officer program at Texas A&M, and is a certified Public Manager through Texas State University.
City Manager Candice Edmondson praised the appointment, calling Rhodes an exemplary leader with a long record of professionalism and dedication.
“His proven leadership and commitment to service will help ensure our community continues to receive the highest standard of fire protection and emergency response,” Edmondson said.
Rhodes said he is looking forward to joining the department, adding, “I am excited to be here and be a part of this organization.”
