United Way announced Monday that McMillian’s retirement will take effect May 1, 2027. Angel Harris, the organization’s vice president and chief advancement officer, will succeed her and immediately become president while McMillian will serve as CEO through her transition.
“Amanda’s leadership has strengthened United Way of Greater Houston and expanded its impact across our community, and we are deeply grateful for all she has accomplished,” Eric Tanzberger, chair of United Way of Greater Houston’s Board of Trustees, said in a release. “We are excited to welcome Angel as our next president and CEO.”
McMillian joined United Way of Greater Houston in 2020. She previously served in executive leadership roles at Anadarko Petroleum.
Harris joined United Way of Greater Houston in 2020 after spending 17 years with United Way of Central Ohio. Since then, she has focused on promoting long-term financial stability for individuals and families through United Way’s Integrated Client Journey.
“I am honored to step into the role of president and to partner closely with Amanda, the board and the entire United Way team during this leadership transition,” Harris said.
