Investigators said several people had gathered in the backyard for a birthday party when the accused man and his girlfriend became involved in an argument. The two left the backyard for an unspecified amount of time before returning, with the man driving his vehicle into the backyard.
Guerrero, identified in the affidavit as the girlfriend’s brother, confronted the man after the argument continued. The two men began fighting as several people nearby tried to separate them.
Investigators said the man pulled out a handgun during the fight and began shooting.
Guerrero was shot in the neck and Valladolid was shot in the back of the head. Both died at the scene. A third person was shot in the abdomen.
Another person at the party then picked up a black-and-gold handgun that witnesses said belonged to Guerrero and fired at the accused man, according to the affidavit. Investigators said the person fired in an effort to stop him from shooting other people. The accused man was struck by gunfire.
According to the affidavit, witnesses interviewed by detectives confirmed the account provided to investigators.
