Parking and Transportation Services lifted zone restrictions Monday, allowing students to park in any student commuter lots throughout the day, according to a department news release.
Larry Cummings, UTA parking communications manager, said in a Teams message that as students have settled into their routines, congestion across campus has decreased.
Through zone-based parking, students had to select the East, West or South zones to park in from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. After 1 p.m., commuter permit holders could park in any student commuter lot, giving them more flexibility for afternoon activities and classes.
No action is required from students; their current permits will remain valid, and other parking rules will continue to apply, according to the release.
Zone-based parking permits aim to address parking demands, reduce congestion and help students find available parking during peak hours, Cummings said.
Students can expect zone-based parking to return for the first four to six weeks of the spring semester.
