Arlington police are investigating a fatal collision involving a 79-year-old woman who was struck outside a crosswalk.
ARLINGTON, Texas — An elderly woman was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash while she was attempting to cross the street, police said.
The Arlington Police Department (APD) said officers responded to the 1400 block of S. Collins Street near Oram Street after receiving reports that a woman in the roadway was hit by a car. APD said the 79-year-old woman was taken to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The victim was later identified as Patricia Diehl, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.
The driver who hit her immediately stopped, remained on scene, and was cooperative with the investigation, APD said. She is not facing any criminal charges at this time, police said.
Police said Diehl was trying to cross Collins Street from west to east when she was struck by the driver, who was traveling northbound. She was not using a designated crosswalk at the time, according to APD.
The victim’s identity was not released by police.
