LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Coronado Mustangs (1-3) will open district play tonight when the Abilene Wylie Bulldogs (2-2) return to Lubbock for this week’s “Thursday Night Throwdown,” airing on KMYL 14.1/22.2, Optimum 6, DIRECTV 14, UVERSE 1014, and SIMULCAST KJ-CD 32.1.
The Mustangs have already shown improvement from last season, highlighted by their 21-10 victory over crosstown rival Lubbock High in week two; a matchup also featured on TNT. Despite the Mustangs 1-3 start, Coronado head football coach Andrew Roy says the Mustangs are very much on the rise.
“We can be a good football team. Our kids are still flying high. We’re still headed in the right direction,” he said.
The Wylie Bulldogs have already won twice in Lubbock this season. In week two, they avenged last season’s loss to Monterey with a 49-3 win. One week later, they won at Frenship 28-21.
The game kicks off at 7 p.m. at PlainsCapital Park.
