Police in Plano are seeking five suspects in thefts that hit the Shops at Willow Bend, costing businesses thousands of dollars.
The department is asking for help in locating and/or identifying the suspects who illegally entered stores inside the Willow Bend Mall, according to a post on Facebook earlier this week. They broke into the mall on Sept. 14 between 12:19 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.
The suspects gained entry through a door near Neiman Marcus from the parking garage. At the first business, filming equipment worth about $8,000 was stolen along with approximately $700 in cash, as a glass door was shattered, the post said.
At the second business, cash and cutlery merchandise were stolen, totaling over $50,000 while a lock on a door was cut. Additional damage was done while the suspects ransacked the office, the post said.
While the businesses were not named in the post, The Dallas Morning News reported earlier this month Pipe & Palette and Cutlery Collection were hit by thefts in that time frame at the mall.
The thefts come after the retail presence at the mall has decreased ahead of a planned redevelopment that would make the site a new home for the Dallas Stars, the National Hockey League team. Willow Bend has hosted open houses about the effort with local residents to address concerns and explain the plans.
Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information called into Crime Stoppers that leads to the arrest and indictment for this felony offense and other felony offenses. Call 214-373-8477 or submit a tip at P3tips.com.
