LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock High Westerners (1-2) will look for their second-straight victory as they open district play this evening taking on the Abilene High Eagles (1-2). The game is airing on KCBD.com and the Streaming App.
The Westerners were off last week but posted a 37-13 win over San Angelo Lake View in the week prior. Lubbock High head football coach Juan Rodriguez says his team is approaching this evening’s game intending to “shock the world”.
“I think just to have the opportunity to go out there and do what we love to do and to be in a situation where we feel confident that we’re playing really good ball, we’re starting to put things together. It would definitely mean the world to us, but I know that it would mean a lot more to just everyone around our community and so forth,” he said. “So we’re just looking forward to hopefully again coming out healthy tomorrow night, playing a great ball club, and hopefully get a chance to see the scores being on our favor.”
The Eagles won their “Crosstown Showdown” over their in-city rivals Abilene Cooper 14-6, but have lost to San Angelo Central and Odessa Permian.
The contest kicks off 7 p.m. at Plains Capital Park.
