Can’t wait for Halloween? Neither can we!
If you’re looking for some family-friendly (and dog-friendly) fall festivities, you’re in luck! Arlington Animal Services is hosting Wag O’ Ween, a free community event and 5K fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026. Join us at the City’s Tails ‘N Trails Dog Park, 950 SE Green Oaks Blvd., for local Arlington vendors, food trucks, a raffle drawing, and a pet and people costume contest.
The ‘Run for Their Lives!’ 5K fundraiser will loop through Fish Creek Trail and Cravens Park, with water stations and mile markers along the route. The race begins at 9:30 a.m. and will finish at 11 a.m. All proceeds from the race will go to Arlington Animal Services’ Animal Cruelty Fund, which provides medical care and veterinary forensics for animals recovered during animal cruelty investigations and supplies to help our officers provide the best care and investigations possible.
What to Know
The 5K $30 early registration price lasts until Oct. 18. The 5K $40 standard registration runs through Oct. 19-23.
Race participants will receive a free T-shirt, a runner’s bib, and two raffle entry tickets.
Check in and registration for race participants will run from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Oct. 24.
Dogs are welcome to run with their owners, but they must be registered. A liability release form, which includes proof of current rabies vaccination and city pet license, is required. You can also register for a shelter dog to run with you through our Doggy Day Out program.
Our festival is a dog-friendly space, but we require four-legged visitors to always be on a 6-foot leash to ensure the safety of other dogs and festival attendees. If you fail to properly restrain your pet, you will be asked to leave.
We ask that Wag O’ Ween attendees park at the Venture High School parking lot, 600 SE Green Oaks Blvd. Parking shuttles to the event will run throughout the day. Our shelter will be open for adoptions and other animal services during our regular Saturday hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Register for the 5K race using the link below. We hope to see you there!
