Fort Worth police are investigating the deaths of two women as a suspected murder-suicide, according to a news release.

Officers found two women dead inside an apartment in the 2200 block of Whistler Creek Drive Wednesday after a relative requested a welfare check, police said.

A concerned family member called in a welfare check after he couldn’t reach the family member by phone or get a response at the apartment door. Police said the relative last spoke with the woman over the phone the night before.

An officer arrived at the apartment about 8:50 p.m. and saw what appeared to be a dead body through the window, police said.

Officers entered the home and found the two unidentified women dead. Police said the women were related.

Officers found a gun in the vicinity of the younger woman. Police said they are investigating the incident as a suspected murder-suicide until further details can lead to a determination.
