SAN ANTONIO — The Freedom and Justice Coalition will protest Friday against Balcones Heights’ agreement with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The protest will begin at 4 p.m. at the corner of Hillcrest Drive and Fredericksburg Road in Balcones Heights.
The coalition, which includes the League of United Latin American Citizens, said the city’s 287(g) agreement will authorize Balcones Heights police officers to carry out certain federal immigration enforcement functions in the field.
The Bexar County Democratic Party Immigration Committee will organize the protest, calling on city leaders to end the partnership with ICE.
