If you have plans near the RIM shopping center this weekend, expect traffic delays. Several closures will be in effect, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
The agency is shutting down the eastbound (EB) and westbound (WB) Loop 1604 frontage roads at the I-10 interchange on Friday, September 25, at 9 p.m., a media release states. According to TxDOT, crews will be conducting construction on the bridge, so these routes must remain blocked off.
It could cause some issues for residents visiting the nearby Six Flags Fiesta Texas theme park, which recently began its popular Fright Fest celebration. Other nearby attractions that could take longer to reach include UT San Antonio and the Topgolf at 5539 N Loop 1604 W.
TxDOT expects to reopen the roads on Monday, September 28, at 5 a.m., weather permitting. Drivers can still access all flyovers at the Loop 1604 and I-10 interchange, but they will need to follow detour signs to reach them.
How to get to EB Loop 1604 main lanes from EB Loop 1604 frontage road: Keep to the right and enter the EB I-10 frontage road. Then, use the U-turn at UTSA Boulevard to enter the WB I-10 frontage road, TxDOT says. Keep to the right again to re-enter the EB Loop 1604 frontage road. From there, you can also enter the EB Loop 1604 main lanes by taking the first available entrance ramp.
How to continue through the I-10 interchange from the WB Loop 1604 frontage road: Keep right and enter the WB I-10 frontage road, TxDOT says. Use the U-turn at La Cantera Parkway to enter the EB I-10 frontage road. Stay to the right to re-enter the WB Loop 1604 frontage road.
