HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Starting on Monday, a METRO service that was previously free will cost money to ride.

METRO’s Community Connector is an on-demand electric shuttle service that works sort of like any ride-share app you book from.

After it’s three-year pilot program, the agency says it will begin charging their standard $1.25 fare for the service.

The app currently works in five different areas in Houston including the Third Ward, Second Ward, Downtown, the Heights, and near Northside.

METRO said customers will receive free fare transfers to other METRO services and standard student and senior discounts will still apply.
